SOBRE ARCOF
Lo Que Somos.
The Amazon Research Center for Ornamental Fishes (ARCOF) es una organización sin fines de lucro 501 (c) (3). Fue establecido en los Estados Unidos y gobernado por una junta directiva.
ARCOF es el primer centro de investigación dedicado exclusivamente al estudio de peces ornamentales ubicados en terrenos ubicados en la Amazonía peruana. Esta tierra, ubicada a 10 kilómetros al suroeste de Iquitos, Perú, es el lugar ideal para el centro de investigación ya que los manantiales naturales fluyen durante todo el año y esta zona no está sujeta a los meses secos estacionales típicos de la mayoría de las regiones amazónicas.
Creemos que a través de la educación continua y la formación práctica los pescadores locales podrán establecer y mantener estanques de cría para peces ornamentales creando así un ecosistema equilibrado y a largo plazo que sirva a la economía local y mejore y proteja medio ambiente.
Nuestra Misión.
Proporcionar educación y apoyo a la investigación que facilite el desarrollo de la acuicultura de peces ornamentales sostenibles en la Amazonía peruana, lo que resultará en buenas prácticas de conservación y un mejor desarrollo económico para el pescador local.
At ARCOF, our educational initiatives are tailored to two vital groups: local fishermen and school children.
Empowering Local Fishermen:
Our hands-on educational programs offer sustainable development models that empower local fishermen to adopt practices that mitigate overfishing. By introducing affordable aquaculture techniques, we help fishermen establish year-round income streams, significantly reducing the need to harvest fish directly from the rivers.
Inspiring School Children:
Through our beloved aquarium mascot, Nalda, we engage school children in learning about conservation and the pressing threats facing the rainforest. Nalda guides them in understanding how they can play an active role in protecting and preserving their natural environment.
Objetivos de ARCOF.
Nuestra misión y objetivos, que forman la filosofía central del centro de investigación, son parte integral de los tipos de investigación y proyectos que llevará a cabo el centro. ARCOF es un centro de investigación no comercial sin fines de lucro y no participará en ningún esfuerzo para criar y/o exportar su propio pescado al mercado nacional o internacional de pescado ornamental.
